IMPORTANT: Tourists traveling to the south must have the exact itinerary of their trip and be accompanied by a local guide.

The Sahara is carrying a new promise for Algeria. It will become its loft, it will also become its source of renewable energy (solar and wind): the sun and wind on the horizon of the next few decades.

The trip to the Sahara is above all the discovery of Paradise unexpected. It is also the possibility of finding silence, peace, completely disconnected from the world in a region out of the ordinary.
On the other hand meet nomads, discover their way of life, hospitality, sensitivity, daily difficulties, their knowledge of the desert, and their wish to make you discover their culture and universe.

Sun and heat
In the flatter and arid regions, the temperature easily reaches 45 ° C and can even rise to 50 ° C. Watch out for sun damage and heat, especially during the first two days after your arrival. Avoid heavy physical effort during hot hours. Be inspired by local habits, especially nap.

Watch out for sunburn, sunstroke and especially heat stroke. Protect your head with a wide-brimmed hat and your eyes with effective sunglasses. White or light clothing will be light and loose to allow air to circulate on the skin. Clothing made of wool, cotton and linen. Regularly wrap yourself with a high-filtering sunscreen on the exposed parts of the body, a moisturizer for the face and a lip cream for the lips.

Drink regularly, do not wait to be thirsty to drink water. Beware of the risk of angina from air conditioning too strong in hotels and vehicles. Against sandstorms, protect your face with a “cheche” (muslin veil to surround your head).

Stings and bites
In the evening, wear clothes that protect the whole body. It is also recommended to coat uncovered parts of your body with a repellent. The bites and bites of spiders, scorpions, snakes, even if they are very rarely fatal, can be sometimes dangerous. In case of snake bite, we recommend to clean and disinfect the wound, and rather to avoid using antivenoms, which travel poorly (cold preservation required) and are not always suitable.

Luggage (12 to 15 kg maximum per person for checked baggage).
Main luggage: a flexible travel bag, or a backpack as they are easy to load in vehicles or to lodge on the back of camels (no suitcase).
Hand luggage: a small backpack hiking is essential to accommodate all your personal belongings: water bottle, food, binoculars, camera etc.

Provide a down closure, a sheet is recommended and possibly a foam mattress.

Know that you will need the following clothes in most cases:
a down jacket (useful in the evening and morning), a not very warm sweater, a windbreaker (Kway or light anorak), two cotton pants and wide and comfortable cotton, a scarf is a piece of cotton fabric (about 5 m long) worn by the Tuaregs that can be found on the spot (headgear and protection against the wind of sand), an American cap with a very wide visor, 2 or 3 shirts and long-sleeved t-shirts against the sun, a tracksuit for the bivouac and the night.

Imperative not new but already made to your foot.
For hiking thick soles but flexible, with upright stems, canvas or “Gore-Tex” type mountain, or bush type.
Plan another pair to relax, sneakers or sandals.
For discovery (4×4 and steps), a pair of comfortable tennis shoes with a thick sole is sufficient.

In wool or cotton provide 3 pairs.
